Sloooow updates…
Not much happening really... Car received some new Hankook RS2 rear tires in the sizes 225/50/16 and a new fuel filter and sparkplugs... Also managed to hit the rear bumper yesterday while reversing... Sucks but ohwell.... Nothing much to report really! Looking forward to some more cash to splash on the thing... Some new front tires aswell, clutch and some paint would be nice....
Gas, rubber and sunshine
This weekend I had 2 action packed days. Starting out on Karfreitag am Ring on friday. For the people who dont know what Karfreitag is, its a gathering of enthousiasts of all over Europe to just meet at the Nurburgring and chill out, drive some laps ( when its opened ) and just have a good time. The idea works, since traffic started clogging up pretty quickly resulting in traffic james for more then an hour.
I left home in the morning with a few friends, resulting in a dash to Germany where the Autobahn became our new best friend. After picking up some more people in Bonn we hit traffic just after Bonn and took a small detour towards the Ring. Once we hit the small villages traffic became to congested. This + approaching lunchtime resulted in Schnitzel with fries, a few laughs and sunshine filled lunch.
After an hour we decided to go for it, and we hit Adenau pretty quickly. Got a 1.5 lap ticket (38 euro ) and had to wait for an hour before the track opened again. After an hour, finally the time was there. My first Nurburgring lap... A friend of mine who've been there loads of time was co-driving and was very helpfull giving directions. Advantage I had this lap was that I was one of the first on track resulting in experimental line driving and not having to worry to much about other traffic. Pretty cool! After the first 0.5 lap I had another full lap and I have to say. VERY impressed. The sheer drops you go trough, the Karussel , the g-forces you pull sometime. Very fun!
On sunday we had a trackday at Circuit Park Zandvoort. Zandvoort is pretty close to where I live and is an ex-F1 track. You might know it from DTM, A1GP or smaller races. They organize trackdays allmost every month. I've driven there quite a few times in my previous MR2 but it was the first time in the SW20. But after reaching the first corner everything felt nice and comfortable. It helps so much when you know the track and the car you are driving in. The session was a blast, past some cars, drove some lines and most off all just had fun. Now the time has come to swap out this damn clutch, get my wheels coated and get new tires, get my HKS Super power flow intake and some general maintance. After that look for some decent brake pads.
Last but not least some pics :
Changes
Sorry for the lack of updates. Things have changed pretty drastically these last couple of weeks. Car has been important but updates have been on a back burner.. However, for the upcoming time some maintenance will be required
I might have found a powdercoating company that can recoat my Advan's... Still not sure what color though. White looks good, gold looks classy, and somehow also lime green comes to mind. But might not be so cool for daily wheels...
Need 2 new tires on the rear. 225/45/16 Toyo's....
For the rest, clutch, sparkplugs, fuelfilter, airfilter, oilfilter, new oil, transmission oil.
Will keep you posted about progress!
Powdercoating
So, end of the month I want to get my Advan RG's powdercoated... Question is, what color? White like they were? Or something funky like orange/yellow? Or perhaps something classy like gold/bronze?

Brakes break
Last week I went to CoordSport to change my brakes. Pads, discs, lines and also replace 4 droplinks...
End result consisted of new pads, discs 2 new droplinks and 2 broken front calipers. Seems like the calipers were at the point of failing. Left front piston was seized, right front slider pin was stuck. Limped it home( only 2 hour drive ) and ordered some new calipers yesterday.
I did however took some AWESOME PIAA wiper blades... I know, there only wiper blades but they are squeek free, streak free and just pure magic. Now only need to get the calipers in and enjoy them
Holidays
So in the upcoming year holidays are already being planned. Canada, Italy, Germany, Wales. So little time ( and money ) so much to see and do.
In most of these holidays the MR2 will shine ( hopefully ). Canada is always a different kind of animal. Place to fully relax, be myself and just chill the F out with some of my favourite people.
Build some fires, fire up some BBQ's , do some awesome shopping and hopefully get a tan and hit some (golf)balls!
Wales will be the epic Wales run with some people of the UK MR2 club. Roadtripping to Wales and some of the best roads I've driven on.
Italy will hopefully be an awesome roadtrip in an original TRD2000GT MR2 Turbo from the Netherlands to Stelvio and different other passes. IF this is happening I'm sure I'll need to bring an extra memory card for the camera and there will be LOADS of pics.
Germany, Nürburgring. Nuf said.
Bodywork..
I might have bought a replica REV 5 spoiler that is unpainted.. Depending on fitment ofcourse! All I need is a painter now to paint it and paint my front lip aswell. AND a powdercoater to coat my wheels... Slowly we're getting somewhere!
Slowly should start looking something like this. Although his is lowered and on 17" .
